Empower Growth

My personal experience with my children struggling academically.

Reading and writing were noticed early on, but school always reassured me "not to worry as some people take a little longer to understand the technique of reading and writing. One day it will just click". At year four parent teachers meeting, I was told "not to have much hope" for my beautiful son's future; "that he does not have the ability academically". I left thinking "right we will prove you wrong". I moved my children's school, put him in external tutoring, and worked hard with my son after school to close the gap between him and his classmates. Although some progress was made it was never enough. He continued to fall further behind. I could see his frustration. He would get upset with his brother, asking him "why is school work so easy for you?"

Now my younger daughter has fallen three years behind in school. Both children have been diagnosed with dyslexia and dyspraxia. Within their private assessments adhd has been suggested, but not tested for (due to the assessor not being adhd trained) we are on a three year waiting list to be diagnosed with adhd.

I understand the despair and strain caused by undiagnosed adhd. This is where my passion to help others gain a brighter future for their loved one's originated from.
